This is a single elimination tournament. If we are to win it all, we will have to beat the 3rd seed, 2nd seed, and (probably) the 1st seed – all in a row. (It might not be the 1st seed in the Championship game if the 4th or 5th seed takes them out in the Semifinals.)

WTF United, Iacofano’s, and Moe’s all finished the season 3-5-2. I haven’t worked it all out, but my guess is that we have the worst GAA, so we get the 6th seed.

So, game 1 of the Tournament is Iacofano’s vs Moe’s at 7:45 on Monday 19 November – field 4. The winner of that game will play the Holy Terrors in the Semis (11/26, 7:45p, field 4)
Game 2 is WTF United vs Mudslingers at 9:00 on Monday 19 November – field 5. The winner of that match moves on to play Charleston Wave in the Semis (11/26, 9:00p, field 5).

The championship game is Monday 3 December at 6:30 pm on field 5.

We’ve beaten them twice, but both times both teams were short on subs. . .

A well played game, but a loss all the same. Randy anchored the Grey in goal but despite pressure from all sides we were unable to put the ball in the net. A round of Irish Car Bombs at Creekside helped to ease the pain.

A skeleton crew held off the fierce short-sided Mudslingers on a cold, cold field. In the first half, Randy had a breakaway rough-and-tumble with the keeper outside the box and rolled one in from a shallow angle. Jeremy mixed it up inside the box in the second half, putting a header into the net and getting walloped by the keeper in return.

On a wet and slippery field the Grey fought valiantly to hold them off. There were flashes of brilliance, Duda and Brian both had chances, and the defense played hard all game – but in the end we were vanquished.

This hard fought game went down to the wire – a cross from Jeremy in the closing minutes found Jeff’s head, and Jeff found the goal!

The underdog Grey stepped up tonight and redeemed the first game of the season. Goals by Jeremy with an assist from Chelsea, and Jerry with an assist from Jeff brought the sweet cup of victory again to our table. What made it even sweeter was Jason’s shutout! Yeah KEEPER!
